About Us

Sky Childcare Uganda is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the wellbeing of children with special needs and their families. We work closely with communities to provide support, training, and empowerment programs that address the social, emotional, and economic challenges faced by caregivers.

In many communities across Uganda, families raising children with developmental conditions often lack access to specialized healthcare, therapy services, and reliable support systems. Sky Childcare Uganda works to bridge this gap by providing knowledge, practical support, and opportunities that strengthen families and improve the lives of children with special needs.

Our goal is to create inclusive communities where every child, regardless of ability, is valued, supported, and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

About Sky Childcare Uganda

Our Story

Sky Childcare Uganda was founded by Fatumah Nakayima, inspired by her personal journey as a mother raising a child with special needs.

Her first-born son, Sky, was diagnosed with Chromosome Deletion 2Q13 at just two weeks old after being rushed to the emergency room in the Netherlands. Following several medical tests, doctors confirmed the diagnosis, bringing emotional and practical challenges that deeply impacted her life as a mother.

Although she had access to healthcare services and professional support in the Netherlands, the experience made her reflect on how difficult it must be for mothers in Uganda who face similar situations with limited medical resources, little caregiver training, and minimal community support.

This realization inspired her to establish Sky Childcare Uganda, with the mission of ensuring that families raising children with special needs receive the support, knowledge, and empowerment they need to care for their children with confidence and dignity.
